Domain Forwarding Features
URL Masking
This feature helps in hiding the destination URL. Visitors to your domain name will be forwarded to your destination website; however the URL in their browser's address bar will remain the same. Also known as Stealth Redirection or URL Hiding, this ensures that your visitors see the original domain name and not the destination domain name.
For example, your website is hosted at http://destination-domain-name.com and you choose to forward http://your-domain-name to this website. If you enable URL Masking, your visitors will never see http://destination-domain-name.com as a URL in their browser address bar.
You can hide the destination URL in any domain forwarding order by enabling URL Masking. That way any long destination URLs remain hidden from the surfer and your brand identity remains consistent.
How does URL Masking work?
In case of URL Masking, the Domain Forwarding Server sends the visitor a frames page where the frame source contains the destination URL you have specified. This ensures that the URL in the address bar of the browser does not change though the visitor sees the destination page.
Wild carded Path Forwarding
This feature is highly useful when you already have a full fledged website on a particular domain name and want to not only forward some other domain name to it, but also all the paths associated with the website. Thus, if you forward http://your-domain-name.com to http://destination-domain-name.com and you enable Path Forwarding for it, then http://your-domain-name/xyz/abc.html will be forwarded to http://destination-domain-name.com/xyz/abc.html, and so. Further, due to URL masking, the browser will show the original url itself and not the destination url.
Wild carded Sub-domain Forwarding
Using the Subdomain Forwarding service, you can forward any visitor from http://subdomain.your-domain-name.com to http://destination-domain-name.com/subdomain. The Subdomain Forwarding Service can also be used in conjunction with URL Masking Service.
For example, if Subdomain Forwarding is enabled, then:
http://payments.your-domain-name.com will get successfully forwarded to http://destination-domain-name.com/payments/; http://credit-card.payments.your-domain-name.com will get forwarded to http://destination-domain-name.com/payments/credit-card/.
Search Engine Optimization and backward compatibility
You can set the <HEAD> tag content, in order to provide <META> tags and <TITLES> for search engine optimization. You can also set the <NOFRAMES> tag content for compatibility with browsers and search engines that do not support frames.
