.info is a generic top-level domain (gTLD). The name is derived from the word information indicating that the domain is intended for Internet websites that contain informative resources. It is an interesting fact that Info stands for information in nearly 40 languages, and hence can be very meaningfully used for a multi-lingual informative website. Though it is not mandated by the registry that you have to necessarily use a .info domain only for such purposes.

The .info domain TLD is an international and unrestricted tld, i.e. anyone can own a second level .info domain name, irrespective of which country he/she may belong to. .INFO Registration

You can register a .info domain name for a period of 1 – 10 years. Further, the registry provides a money back grace period of maximum 4 days from the date of registration. During this grace period you can cancel your order and delete the domain registration. You will be refunded your money after deduction of nominal processing charges.

The length of a .info domain name can be from 3 - 63 characters. You can assign 2 – 13 name servers and unlimited child name servers to your .info domain.

The .info registry permits Privacy Protection and Theft Protection/Lock to be applied on a .info domain.

.INFO Renewal

A .info domain can be renewed for a period of 1 – 10 years. When a .info domain expires (when you do not renew it on time), it undergoes an auto renewal. You then get a grace period of 15 days from the date of expiry to renew your domain name, after which the domain is deleted.

.INFO Transfer

On transfer, a .info domain registration term is automatically extended by 1 year. The domain transfer secret code or auth code required for initiating a transfer of .info domain should be composed of 6 – 16 characters. Further, there is a 60 day transfer lock on a .info domain.

.INFO Restoration

A 30 days grace period is provided for restoration of an expired and deleted .info domain name.
