FTP using Windows Explorer

Please find below a brief about the process to follow to upload web pages on your hosting space using Windows Explorer:

  1. Open Windows Explorer
  2. In the address box type ftp.YOURDOMAINNAME.com
  3. You will now see a popup login window asking for your username and password. In case the login window does not popup, right click the screen and click Login As. Your username is YOURDOMAINNAME.com and password is Your FTP password. After typing your username and password, click on Logon button.

After successful login, you will be connected to your hosting space and your hosting space folders will appear on the right pane of windows explorer. Your web files are to be placed under public_html folder or httpdocs folder depending upon whether you have a linux hosting plan or a windows hosting plan respectively.

Note: Replace .com in the instruction above with your actual domain extension, which could otherwise be .info / .biz / .net ....

A detailed description of the above is given below:

First, you need to find out your default FTP connection information. Your ftp login details would have been provided to you in your account access details email that we sent you after creating your hosting account.

If you just registered your domain name and it has not fully propagated yet, you will not be able to use ftp.YOURDOMAINNAME.com as the server address. Instead, use the FTP Server IP. This IP may vary for your other domains depending on which of our web servers your domain is on. The default FTP password is set to the same password as the Cpanel password you received in your account access details Email.

In order to upload your web files. You can use any FTP client or even Windows Explorer to connect to your hosting account via FTP. Windows Explorer is the tool you use when you open My Computer or My Network Places. Windows Explorer is tightly integrated with Internet Explorer and the transition from a local location is often seamless with a network location. Opening an FTP site is simple with Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer (the procedure is exactly the same).

Open Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer and type in ftp://yourusername@yourdomain.com in the address bar. Replace yourusername with the actual login username that you we have given you. And replace yourdomain with your domain name. If this does not work, try typing ftp://yourdomain.com.

You will now see a popup login window asking for your username (if not already provided above) and password. Enter the password for your login provided by us. In case the login window does not popup, right click the screen and click Login As.

Once you connect, you'll see a number of folders pre-configured in your FTP root. DO NOT delete these folders. The public_html folder is where you should put ALL your web pages and related files (i.e. images, sub-folders, etc).
